Yomu Is Now Available in English

The English version of Yomu, the browser-based Markdown editor from oka-project, is now available.

Yomu is designed for a workflow that starts with Markdown and ends somewhere else: a WordPress post, a Word document, an HTML file, a PDF, or another publishing destination. The English version makes that workflow usable without going through the Japanese interface first.

The English version covers the same core workflow

Yomu lets you edit Markdown in the browser, preview the rendered result, and then export or transform the document for different destinations. The English interface includes the same core approach as the Japanese version rather than being a separate simplified product.

A common use case is reviewing Markdown generated by ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI tool before publishing it. You can check headings, lists, links, and overall structure, make corrections in the Markdown source, and then move the document into a format that fits the next step.

Current output options include workflows for WordPress, Microsoft Word through DOCX, HTML, and PDF. The point is to keep Markdown as the editable source while separating the final publishing or file format from the drafting stage.

Why add English support

The problem Yomu is built around is not specific to Japanese writing. English-language workflows have the same friction: AI-generated Markdown may need review, formatting may change when content is pasted into another editor, and the same draft may need to be reused across multiple destinations.

An English interface also matters for discovery. If someone finds Yomu through a software comparison site, an app directory, or an English-language search, they should be able to understand the product and start using it without first navigating Japanese documentation.

For that reason, English support is part of the product's distribution and documentation strategy, not only a UI translation task.

The browser-first processing model is unchanged

Yomu does not require an account or a desktop installation. Markdown editing and supported conversion work are designed to run in the browser rather than requiring the document to be uploaded to a conversion server simply to change formats.

This is especially relevant when working with unpublished drafts, internal notes, or text generated during an early editing stage. A browser tool is only meaningfully convenient if users can also understand where their content is being processed, so the English version keeps the same processing model as the Japanese version.

The English page is now the main entry point for international users

The English version has its own URL, metadata, and product description. This gives external English-language listings a stable destination and makes it possible to keep the English product information aligned with future updates.

I will continue to maintain the Japanese and English versions together so that major differences in features or documentation do not accumulate over time.
