On October 7, 2026, I released Tojiru, a tool for merging and splitting PDFs. It is built for jobs like combining several PDFs into one, or fixing the page order and orientation of a scanned document, and it does that work inside your browser without uploading the files anywhere.

## What Tojiru does

Open one or more PDFs and their pages appear in a single row. From there you can:

- reorder pages
- rotate pages in 90-degree steps
- remove pages
- extract only the pages you select
- save everything, in the current order, as one PDF

You can also split a document so that each page becomes its own PDF, saved together as a ZIP. That is useful when you need to pull only a few pages out of several files before sending them on.

## Why it does not need uploads

PDFs often hold things like contracts, invoices, and application forms, which are worth thinking twice about before handing them to an outside service. Tojiru reorders and merges pages inside the browser, so there is no need to send the file to a conversion server.

That said, this does not guarantee that your device is secure, or that your organization allows you to use the tool for work documents. For important files, follow your organization's rules.

## What I checked while building it

When you rotate a page, Tojiru does not just change how it looks on screen. The rotation is written into the page's rotation setting in the saved PDF. Even so, it is worth reopening the saved file in a different viewer to confirm the pages face the way you intended.

In the post-release check in October 2026, I merged a three-page PDF while offline and confirmed that the saved file could be opened again. Because everything runs in the browser, large files can take a while depending on your device's memory and the file size. The current limits are 100 MB per file and 1,000 pages in total.

## What it does not do

Tojiru is intentionally limited to working with whole pages. It cannot add text, sign documents, or add watermarks or page numbers. It also cannot open password-protected PDFs as they are.

It is also not a good fit if you need to keep document-level bookmarks or form definitions from the original files when merging. If you need to preserve or edit that kind of information, use dedicated PDF editing software.

I released Tojiru for one simple job: merging, reordering, and splitting PDF pages quickly.
